Two would-be burglars, one armed with a crowbar and the other with what appeared to be a baseball bat, tried to break into a Lawndale warehouse last month.

They failed, but police are still trying to identify and find the men responsible. On Monday, detectives released surveillance video of the men’s futile, yet illegal activities.

It happened at about 7:30 p.m. on April 5 at the graffiti-covered rear of a commercial building on the 6600 block of Hasbrook Avenue. The edited surveillance video starts with one of the suspects trying to pry open an exterior door with a crowbar as his accomplice waits nearby, taking some warm-up swings with the bat.

Failing to breach the door, the crooks next turned to a loading bay. The second suspect took several cuts at a rolldown gate with the bat, but barely made a dent in it. Both burglars fled.

Police did not release descriptions of the suspects. Call 215–686-TIPS or text to PPD TIP to report information. ••
